Spring Cleanup I'm weary of saying No to my children. Not just the everyday No's. Don't hit your brother and No, you cannot have 5 pieces of candy. I am weary of the No I am continually saying to our culture. The world is bound and determined to take away my children's innocence. They want my children to grow up way too fast. They want my little girl to dress like an adult. They want my little boy to know things he is way too young to know. I'm weary of saying you can't go to that movie, because it is not appropriate for your age. No, you can't wear what everyone else is wearing, because it is not appropriate. The straw that finally...(related: Spirituality) Feeling restless? Is part of you calling out for change, though you don't yet know what that looks like, or what you most need? The junk I'm talking about is the stuff that we keep stored up inside ourselves. It's the excess baggage in our lives that tends to weigh us down and serves no purpose. This heavy load dims our spirits and dims the light within us. These things more specifically are known as Doubt, Fear, Unforgiveness, Anxiety, Pride, Rebellion, Hatred, Double-Mindedness, you get the idea, the things that keep us held in bondage. It seems a waste to keep all this extra baggage hanging around when it was already bought and paid for. Not only that, it has already been redeemed as new. God said He would trade us this useless junk with a far more valuable treasure, which is Eternal Life through His Son Jesus Christ."He who did not withold or spare (even) His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously...(related: Spirituality)

Stepping Into The Darkness
One of the "loopholes" in my philosophical belief system when I was younger (and at this point in my life, that means "almost middle-aged"! ) was whether or not there was an evil force in the universe equal to God who served as man's adversary. He was the original "bad guy," and the human race seemed to be caught between these two invisible forces - one of good and one of evil. People, as the pawns in this universal power play...(related: Spirituality)

Sunday Dinner
No one appreciates mothers enough. In this life, that's a given. The only one who comes closest to a real appreciation is a woman who has become a mother herself, and even she probably doesn't fully appreciate the woman a generation above her.Where did I come to this conclusion? Sitting in a church pew as the priest extolled the virtues of "Keeping Holy the Sabbath." In the sermon he specifically forbade the parishioners from mowing the lawn, fixing up the house, or doing paperwork on Sundays. He ...(related: Spirituality)

Surrounded By His Glory
As communion was being passed this morning, I listened to the song "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me. I fought to keep the tears in my eyes. I didn't want break down sobbing during that incredible song like normal. Being in a wheelchair and physically disabled, the chorus brings fantastic, breathtaking images to my mind:"Surrounded by Your glory,What will my heart feel? Will I dance for you Jesus,Or in awe of You be still? Will I stand in Your presence,Or to my knees will I fall? Will I sing 'Hallelujah,'Will I be able to speak at all?I can only imagine, yeah,I can only imagine!"Here on this earth, the thought of being with Christ ...(related: Spirituality)

Tarot Basics
A Tarot card deck typically consists of 78 colorful cards imprinted with what many deem fascinating and curious images. The cards, each filled with a particular meaning and portent, most often come somewhat larger than ordinary playing cards and make an impressive display when ritually laid out. This deck of special cards can be used by a trained "reader" for glimpsing into his or her own future or that of another person for whom the cards are read. The Tarot deck, divided into Major Arca...(related: Spirituality)

Thank You Lord, Most Graciously
There are moments in the believer's life when the Spirit of the living God gets in us and gives birth to thanksgiving and holy reflection. Moments when we really comprehend how good God is and how good He has been. Not only how good He has been in general, but how good He has been to us particularly. We reflect upon how He stepped into our own situation, how when nothing else could help, His love lifted us. We ponder how in those times when we were down and could not hear anybody pray, He spoke to our hearts and lifted our burdens.Suddenly we get caught up in a flood of thankful emotions and it feels like fire shut up in our bones. During these moments of "knowing" we join with the Psalmist in giving thanks the Lord and praise to His holy name. We know that "the Lord is good; His love endures forever an...(related: Spirituality)
The 17 Miracle Prayer Points That Make You Rich
Someone asked me the other day what was the most effective prayer point to pray and become wealthy.I did some digging around and found out thatthe most powerful prayer points for wealthare the ones prayed by one of our partners over 5 years ago.He wasn't prepared for what happened after. Here's his story...He was waiting on the Lord (kingdom-speakfor prayer and fasting) for 40 days when the Lord spoke to him the words of Ps 2verse 8, which says:"Ask of me and I will give you the heathenfor thy inheritance and the outermost partof the earth for thine possession."That was ...(related: Spirituality)
The 5 Elemental Codes: Seeing Your World Through The Eyes Of Universal Understanding (part 1)
This article is the 1st part of an open response to a question that I encountered online a few years ago in one of the many Martial Arts Ninjutsu forums. The question (paraphrased) was:"What are the 5-elements (earth, wind, water, wood and metal) about that I have seen mentioned in books on ninjutsu?"As is so often the case when dealing with multiple personality types, egos, and the need for instructors to justify their positions and philosophies, the question went unanswered. What followed for several days was a sidebar discussion about the "rightness" or "wrongness" of a particular teach...(related: Spirituality)

The Amazing Possibilities In Your Impossible Dream
There was this TV commercial a couple of years back that made me look away every time it came on. It was for some kind of a power saw and the premise was that there was this guy who built furniture for a living.Somehow he lost his sight in an accident and thought he would have to give up doing what he loved most. But no way. It turns out this saw was so precise and reliable, even a blind man could operate it.See where this is going? Suddenly they show the blind c...(related: Spirituality)

The Big Choice
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you, and you will eat with me."REVELATION 3:20, NCVJesus gives this invitation. To know God is to receive His invitation. Not just to hear it, not just to study it, not just to acknowledge it, but to receive it. It is possible to learn much about God's invitation and never respond to it personally.Yet His invitation is clear and nonnegotiable. He gives all and we give Him all. Simple and absolute. He is clear in what He asks and clear in what He offers. The choice is up to us.Isn't it...(related: Spirituality)
The Blessing Of Violence
An interesting question arose within a poetry workshop I attended this week. This was the question, "Are human beings violent by nature?" This is a real question. This is the sort of question one can expect to arise amongst those working with the language of the soul. This is the language of the poetic, the language of creation. As for myself the answer is a resounding "No."This morning I have reflected on this question (a sort of mini quest) and I have metaphorically turned the question on its head. I find it useful to sometimes turn questions around and view them from another angle. It allows me to envision them in a different way.To answer, "No" to this question is not enough.Given what is port...(related: Spirituality)
The Breath Of Life
The earth is wrapped in a thin, loose shell of gases - which we call the atmosphere. The mix of gases that make up the atmosphere has changed greatly over the eons.A Flemish alchemist and physician named Johann Baptista van Helmont was the first man to discover that the air we breathe is not one single substance but a mixture of substances. In a manuscript published after his death in 1644, he argued, based on his experiments, that an invisible "spirit" curled from every one of the bubbling flasks in his alc...(related: Spirituality)
The Cab Approach To Spiritual Growth
I have been thinking a lot about the spiritual growth process and I thought I would share. I think that what enlightenment really involves is accepting the light that already exists within each of us and in every one and every thing. Of course we have created many layers and blockages to prevent us from seeing the light and we have gotten attached to these layers which is why clearing can be so painful. Anyway the approach I am taking to spiritual growth boils down to three things: Commitment, attitude and balance.Commitment: We all have been given the gift of time and energy by Spirit. When we give this gift back to Spiri...(related: Spirituality)

Becoming Enlightened
Enlightenment, which is as varied as each individual's fingerprint, is an experience of regaining our perfection in God or Christ consciousness, and words alone cannot express the joyfulness and peace in that discovery. God energy is perfect energy, and because we are God's offspring, so are we perfect. Standard religious beliefs try to convince us that this perfection is achieved somewhere in the "by and by."However, there is a Bible passage, which says, &qu...(related: Spirituality)
When Is It Right To Be Angry?
Many of us have been taught that it is wrong to be angry. This thinking weighs heavily in both the sacred and secular domains. Is that thinking right or wrong?Ruby Bayan saw this when she scoured publications seeking statements about anger made by some well-known and anonymous sources. She cites several in her article, "What They Say About Anger.""Anger is one letter short of danger," an unknown spokesperson said. Similarly, Thomas Fuller taught that "anger is one of the sinews of the soul; he that wants it hath a maimed mind." A Malabar Proverb claimed, "Anger is as a stone cast into a wasp's nest." Samurai Maxim warned, "the angry man will defeat himself in battle as well as in life." Thomas Carlyle charged, "The instant we fee...(related: Spirituality)
